Ambar has the unique advantage of developing brands in three very different parts of Asia emerging India, semi-developed Taiwan and industrialised Japan. He has also worked in Singapore on regional brands like Unilever and Nestle for the Asia Pacific region.
In mid-December 2006, he was appointed President of Y&R Asia.
Some of his successful case studies during his time at JWT Japan include helping Unilever achieve market leadership for almost 10 years for Lux Super Rich, now seen as the Best Practice Mix around the world. With Nestle Kit Kat, he helped to make it the top confectionary brand in Japan and in the process, was awarded the most number of Effies for 4 years, in the area of non-conventional marketing success.
In many ways a WPP Leader, Ambar was the first Asian member to be recognised and seen as the leading Asian voice within the Group. In his capacity as the Managing Director of WPP BV Netherlands, he has been representing the Group with ADK Japan's 3rd largest agency network in which WPP is the leading shareholder. He has also created and managed the alliance of JWT and ADK across the world.
Having worked with Sir Martin Sorrell for many years, he has developed a deep and wide network within the WPP Group which enables him to access the massive resources and specialised skills that WPP possesses around the world; especially in the various Market Research, PR, Digital, Retail, Media Investment, Branding and Consultancy assets.
